A Narrative is a constructive format that describes a sequence of events.
A linear narrative is when the events in the film appear in order of time as it would happen in real life.
A nonlinear narrative is when the events in the film do not happen in order of time, for example, we see a flash back we knew nothing about during the film, this is used to explain or reveal things about the character to the audience, or alternatively some films start at the climax and then go 'to where it began' this is the same as our film.
Our film is a nonlinear as it starts at the climax then narrates what is prior to the climax before getting to the scene revealed at the beginning, which would now make sense to the audience. Examples of this being used are Megamind(which starts with mega mind falling, Inception (which starts with Dom lying on a beach)and the usual suspects(which starts on a ship). These shots don't have relevance until the end of the film.
Our film follows a similar non-linear narrative, it starts with Alpha 7 running to confront Preston, later then we look back and see how Alpha 7 came to this conclusion.
