Films where we have taken ideas from include:
1. Commando there is a scene with several jump cuts in it, we are using the same technique for Alpha getting ready before he escapes:

The man in the iron mask, there is a scene from this film where they switch the king for his twin brother (the king is evil the brother is kind) it has a similar ending to the 'duplicate', it starts with hope, goes into a sadness moment and ends with the revelation of the good brother winning,this is where the idea of the 'switch' came from. (forgive the poor quality of the video, it was the only one i could find)
3. 400 Blows, this film is where the idea of the zoom into the face and cutting to a still comes from, it is a very old film but the effect works quite nicely. I have also seen the technique used on a TV Drama called NCIS they often have the old fashioned 'camera effect'. this will be used in the beginning of our film where Alpha 7 looks back when he is running.
What happens is you have a clip from NCIS and part way through it cuts to a still (with a sepia style effect) with a sound effect like an old fashioned camera 'poof' (like the photo on the left)4. Ideas from 'The Island' helped with a lot with putting this together, especially things like the idea for the clone, reasons why the clone is needed and the idea of the clone meeting 'himself'. I really liked the way it showed the character interaction of someone meeting an identical copy of themselves this really, was the main idea which formed the basis of the whole film, it all came from this one idea of meeting 'youself':
This is the trailer for 'the island' but half way through it shows where i got the split screen effect from.
Here are 2 stills each one shows 'tom lincoln' meeting 'Lincoln 6 echo' his clone, although we may not be able to recreate this effect as brilliantly as the Director Michael bay we were still willing to give it a go!
In the photo's you can easily identify the clone has a cut on his head (below) and Lincoln wears Glasses, this helps the audience to identify who is who is who seen as they are identical, in our film, Charles always wears a suite and Alpha 7 gets a cut to his hand, to help easily identify who is who, this is very important for the twist in the plot at the end of the film.
5. Borne Ultimatum the borne films have a similarity to our film as borne is a fugitive and is on the run from police and the government through no fault of his own, it has similarities to Alpha who is on the run from Preston. Here is a clip from the borne films which was never actually used but it uses the documents idea and the effect i am hoping to re create:

Another example of this type of footage, and editing can be found in the title sequence of the marval hulk film from 2003, however i could not find video footage on youtube to evidence this.
As the Writer of the film, i have to create the plot and the backbone for the director and Producer to work with, i thought it was a wise idea to research into other big and successful companies and writers of successful films, these films above are films that have done well, by using their ideas and what worked well for them, i am hoping that the shot film we create will be very good and successful.
